Planning Your Honeymoon

When planning a honeymoon and the bride or groom is in the military, special rules apply. There is of course, limited time for honeymoons when one is in the military. However, there are ways to request more time. A pass can be obtained to get a little extra time for the honeymoon. This is the same as a pass that would be given for holiday purposes. It allows the honeymooner 72 hours. However one can also get vacation time. This will be included in the standard 30 days off that officers can expect every year.

A great way to get the most out of a military honeymoon is to plan wisely. Leave soon after the ceremony or go to some wonderful, nearby hideaway and enjoy a couple of days. While many people travel to distant lands to spend their honeymoon, the truth of the matter is, honeymoons should be about the couple, not the destination.

Planning a honeymoon should not be one of those many things about getting married that can make the couple pull their hair out. The best way to plan a honeymoon is to get it out of the way early on. With all of the other things that come with getting married, planning a honeymoon should be the least of a couple’s worries.

Before reservations are made or a destination is picked, figure out how much money can be spent. This is very important because a really expensive honeymoon might not be in the works if there is not enough money for one. Remember, the wedding will be costly and after all of the hoopla, there needs to be a place to live for the couple.

One way to get the honeymoon cost out of the way is to have a honeymoon fund. Once that honeymoon fund is depleted, the plans are done. That means that there is a limit and once the limit is reached, whatever did not get included in the honeymoon must wait for later.

Remember that planning a honeymoon does not always mean Paris or the Bahamas. While there are always deals on trips to these destinations, the budget couple may want to wait to go to these places. There are plenty of non touristy spots where honeymooners can find their own little niche. Don’t be a part of the crowd if there are other spots that will be satisfying. Planning a honeymoon does not mean going spending a fortune.
