Bridesmaid Duties

Being a bridesmaid can be both exciting and tedious, depending on the bride and the bridesmaid. If being involved in the wedding planning and the wedding itself is going to be too hectic, politely pass on the post and let someone that can do it, take it.

The bridesmaid duties may seem minimal when looked at on paper but the type of wedding that is being given will determine how extensive bridesmaid duties are. The bride will need help planning her wedding.

Be ready with support and suggestions, if they are solicited. She will be running the plans by her bridesmaid’s and it is one of the bridesmaid duties to tell her if the plans are unrealistic or unlikely to pan out if she asks for the type of input. There are so many different traditions and styles of weddings that the bridesmaids may have completely different views of how the ceremony should be carried out.

The bridesmaid duties include having time to go for fittings and shopping trips. If one’s schedule is very, very hectic, being a bridesmaid may not be the best idea. One of the biggest bridesmaid duties is going on what can turn out to be, endless shopping trips for the bride’s dress and decorations for the wedding.

Be available for rehearsals and go to the rehearsal dinner. Help the bride fill out the wedding invitations, and pick them out, if necessary. Bridesmaid duties also include planning out a bachelorette party and/or bridal shower.

Bridesmaid duties also extend to a few clean up jobs following events. That means bridesmaids should be prepared to spent time at the events and time after to assist with the conclusion of events surrounding the wedding.

A bridesmaid should also be in contact with the maid of honor. The maid of honor has a lot of responsibility and she may need a little bit of extra help in her duties. Be available to help out when needed.

Bridesmaid duties also include simple things like helping to put all of gifts in the car. Bridesmaid duties also include paying for her dress and sitting at the head of table at the reception.
